Roger Perkins is a partner and trial lawyer in Morris Polich & Purdy LLP’s San Diego office. Roger concentrates his practice on the defense of product liability actions, primarily involving pharmaceutical products, medical devices and nutraceuticals. He defends manufacturers, distributors and biotech companies in individual claims as well as in toxic and mass torts. He also represents clients in environmental and commercial litigation, and complex civil litigation. Roger has defended hundreds of product liability claims in California and throughout the United States. He has defended companies in product liability claims involving ventilators, apnea monitors, heart-lung bypass machines, morcellators, needles and syringes, catheters, lasers, spinal surgery devices and hardware, cold therapy devices, pain pumps, surgical tacks, inferior vena cava filters, patient lifts, wheelchairs, prosthetic devices, implants and waterless surgical scrubs. He has also represented medical and genetic testing laboratories as well as companies in the defense of claims involving dietary supplements, zinc nasal sprays and hormone replacement drugs. Roger also defends companies in products liability claims outside of Life Sciences. He has defended cases involving exercise, recreational, farm and material handling equipment. Roger has served as national coordinating counsel for major defendants in in mass torts, including latex gloves, pain pump and cold therapy litigation. He has also served as regional and local counsel in many mass tort claims. He has represented manufacturers in class action lawsuits involving the UCLA Willed Body Program and cold therapy devices. He also has extensive experience representing clients in commercial cases, ranging from contract breaches to complex violations of the California Wholesale Representatives Contractual Relations Act of 1990 and California B & P Code Sec. 17200 claims. Roger has tried approximately 40 cases to jury verdict, has been a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates since 1992, is a Master in the American Inns of Court, Enright Chapter and served as an instructor at the IADC's Trial Academy in 2004.
