Frank Terhorst is currently the Global Head of Seeds at Bayer CropScience. In addition to this role, as of 2016, he is the Project Lead for the Monsanto Pre-Merger Planning process and is a member of the Bayer CropScience Executive Committee.
Frank has worked in the agriculture industry for over 20 years with experience in crop strategy, crop protection and seeds & traits, strategic business initiatives, business modeling, mergers and acquisitions, licensing, lifecycle crop management, and fruit and vegetables business strategy.
Frank began his career in 1990 through a trainee program of the Bayer AG in Germany. After various Marketing & Sales roles in Germany and Italy, he moved to the Netherlands where he headed the Dutch CropScience business as managing director. In this role he also served as the Senior Bayer Representative for the Netherlands.
Returning to Italy in 2007, he headed the Italian CropScience business as Country Head and Managing Director. In 2011 he moved back to Germany to take on the position of Head of Strategy for Fruits & Vegetables and Insecticides until 2013, when he moved into his current job as Global Head of Seeds based out of North Carolina, USA.
During his career he has been a board member and chairman of various industry associations (Nefyto/Netherlands, Agrofarma/Italy, Assobiotec/Italy) and serves currently as a board member of the Food and Agricultural Section of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) in the US.
He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics and participated in various leadership trainings such as Executive Leadership Programs at Harvard Business School and Ashridge Business School. He speaks five languages (German, English, Italian, Dutch and conversational Spanish).
Frank is married and has one son. He enjoys running, diving, golf, soccer and being with his family.
