Bio
Dr. Jeanne Loring’s laboratory at The Scripps Research Institute focuses on human pluripotent stem cells, the remarkable cultured cells that can become every cell type in the human body. Most projects in her lab use induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), which are made from cultured skin biopsies. The main focus is on human disease, using iPSCs to develop therapies for Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and autism. But the lab also applies stem cell technology to the collaboration with the San Diego Zoo to help rescue endangered species.
